A visit to the Judicial Protection Base for the Non-Public Sector Economy (Linyi)

On the morning of June 30, more than 50 global trade partners from Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Kazakhstan, and over 10 other countries were warmly invited by the Linyi Wholesale Merchants Association to visit the “Judicial Protection Base for the Non-Public Sector Economy (Linyi)”.

During their visit to the People’s Mediation Committee of the Linyi Wholesale Merchants Association, they gained firsthand insight into Linyi’s practical measures and remarkable achievements in fostering a law-based business environment and safeguarding the healthy development of the non-public sector economy.

Accompanied by Du Guang, Vice President of Linyi Wholesalers Federation and Director of People’s Conciliation Committee, after the visit, the international purchasers came to the teaching and research section of the base and listened to the lecture by Xiao Lilquan, director of the commercial law teaching and research section of Linyi College of Law. The lecture focuses on the identification and prevention of legal risks in international trade, and uses typical cases to dissect key risks in contract signing and performance. It also systematically explains the basic principles and latest practice of China’s foreign-related civil and commercial legal system. The content covers hot issues such as intellectual property protection, the choice and application of multiple mechanisms for resolving cross-border disputes (litigation, mediation and arbitration), providing legal guidance for overseas merchants to carry out safe and efficient trade cooperation in Linyi and the Chinese market.

A lecture on the theme “Access to China’s Justice – Escorting Cross-Border Trade” was held in the base’s lecture room. Judge Wang Junxia of Lanshan District People’s Court gave a lecture in English to the visiting trade representatives on the topic of “Risk Prevention of International Trade and China’s Foreign-related Legal Practice in the Context of RCEP.” Judge Wang Junxia gave an in-depth analysis of the formulation, performance and sale of international goods contracts in the light of typical cases. The core legal risk points in the areas of default remedies and dispute resolution, proposed operational risk control strategies, and systematically explained the latest rules and practice developments of China’s relevant foreign-related laws and the people’s courts in services to safeguard cross-border trade, and optimized the identification and application of extraterritorial laws. He highlighted China’s characteristic practices in the judicial protection of intellectual property rights and the multiple resolution of cross-border commercial disputes. In the context of the rules of the RCEP agreement, he explained how China’s legal practices responded to the obligations of the agreement and provided solid legal support for trade liberalization and facilitation in the region.
The content of the lecture is professional and profound, which depicts a clear legal road map for international trade representatives to operate in the Chinese market and cooperate with Linyi Mall. In-depth exchanges were held on the latest developments in judicial practice in China.

During the event, international buyers expressed their appreciation for Linyi’s efforts to build a legal business environment, and had in-depth exchanges with the judges on specific legal issues in cross-border transactions and the latest development of China’s judicial practice.
