On December 31, 2024, 1084 kg of dried swim bladder of wild Nile perch from Uganda arrived at Changsha Huanghua International Airport on a flight. The products were checked and released by Changsha Huanghua Airport Customs. The products entered the domestic market smoothly on the same day.

According to the announcement of the General Administration of Customs, China will allow the import of wild aquatic products from Uganda that meet relevant requirements from October 9, 2024. This batch of products is the first batch of dried swim bladder products imported from Uganda after the announcement, marking another new progress in the field of agricultural and food products in China-Africa economic and trade cooperation.

The person in charge of the importer Haotong supply chain management (Hunan) Co., Ltd., said that Uganda is the main origin of dried fish swim bladder in Africa. The company said that with the help of the stable China-Africa freight routes at the port of Changsha Airport and the advantages of Hunan’s construction of a pilot zone for in-depth China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, it is expected to continue to expand imports of African agricultural and food products.

Changsha Huanghua Airport Customs official said that in order to ensure the smooth customs clearance of the batch of dry swim bladders, the customs opened a “green channel,” from the declaration, port inspection, certificate processing, logistics information circulation and other whole process to provide convenience for enterprises. Previously, the port of Changsha Airport has successively imported high-quality African agricultural and food products such as Kenyan anchovy and Kenyan dried sea cucumber for the first time in China, further enriching the domestic market demand.

According to Changsha customs statistics, in the first 11 months of 2024, Hunan province imported 22.13 billion yuan from Africa, an increase of 59.1%, including 380 million yuan of agricultural products, an increase of 16.2%.
